News > Sao Paulo Meeting (September 26th-28th, 2005)

The Brazilian member firm Pryor organized in Sao Paulo ( Brazil ) the third international meeting of ACCACIA.

We decided to have our Sao Paolo meetings managed by the same consulting firm previously engaged in Madrid in order to ensure a better utilization of our time and easing the consensus related to the different topics covered.

The first day of the Sao Paulo Meeting, participants visited the Pryor premises in Campinas as well as Sao Paulo 's main business area. Additionally, the group attended two conferences related to Sarbanes Oxley regulations and IT infrastructure in accounting firms.

The focus for the following two days was to discuss the Association By-Laws as well as the modus operandi of the association itself and the distribution of responsibilities among partners of each firm.

By the end of the meeting in Sao Paulo all firms reached an agreement on the above topics and the content of By-Laws were drafted.

The distribution of offices was agreed as follows:

President: Benito Tagle (Partner of CTI Mexico)

Vice-president: Victor M Salamanca (Partner of Auxadi Madrid)
Treasurer-Secretary: Ronal Monahan (Partner of Monahan Mijares Caracas)

Additionally the firms agreed to establish the following three Committees:

  • Best Practice Committee: to identify the best practices of each one of the member firms and promote the platform from which to share such practices with each other. We would achieve this, for example, through staff placement or exchange of employee programs.
  • Membership Committee: to develop policies and procedures for membership acceptance of prospective joining candidates in those countries considered of special interest for strategic reasons.
  • Marketing Committee: to guide, promote and lead ACCACIA as a brand, developing the global marketing strategy for the Association, for example through the implementation, design and maintenance of its website, or preparing the yearly marketing budget for the Association among other tasks.

The meeting was a complete success and ACCACIA officially launched through the signature of the Sao Paulo Agreement by all participating firms.

The next meeting was decided to be held in Mexico in March 2006, where CTI would host the fourth meeting.
